Harold Wahl
October 24, 1921 - January 18, 2006

Harold was not a great man as the world counts greatness.
He did not become a world leader or found a financial empire.
He did not make great scientific discoveries or win a Nobel prize.
He did not develop a new philosophy or write great literature.
He did not count with the world because he did none of these things.

He counted for those of us who knew him.
He counted as one of our blessings.
He counted because what he did was far greater than any of those other things.
Simply by being here and being himself, Harold made the world a better place for the rest of us.

Theresa's wedding 1992

Following are some pictures from the 4th of July 2005 celebration. I wish I could find a picture that I took at our first 4th of July picnic. It was July 4, 1960 and the picture was of Harold and Jr. playing croquet in our back yard in Creve Coeur. The attendance that year was Harold, Jean, Jill, Karl, Jr., Jane, TL, Teresa, me, Solange, and Brenda. It was the start of a tradition that has continued for 45 years with just a few interruptions. For almost all of those years we have had the pleasure and privilege of having Harold and Jean come to our picnic to enjoy family time together.

A few weeks later the Cox/Wahl family reunion took place in Jacksonville.

In the afternoon after lunch of both the 4th of July picnic and the family reunion, there was one thing I could always count on.
As Harold and I would be sitting and talking, he was sure to say: "Oh, Harry. I ate too much!"
