My name is Harry Wahl. John Carman is my
g-g-g-g-g-g-g-g-g-g-grand- father. Jan Manglese (Roll) is my
g-g-g-g-g-g-g-g-grandfather. Henry Schumacher is my g-g-grandfather. George
Jacob Wahl is my g-g-grand- father. All of the above is from my father's side of
the family. Thomas Cross is my g-g-grandfather on my mother's side.
I started doing research on our family in 1988. As is probably true with all
genealogy hobbyists, I hit it very heavily for a couple of years and then
slacked off. In the relatively short time that I have spent on it, I have been
able to find a lot of information on the Carman and Roll families back to the
1600's simply because both families were fairly prominent. I also have quite a
bit of information about the Schumacher and Wahl families since they came to the
United States. However, I have not been able to trace back to Germany to get a
more complete set of data for either of them. Most of my efforts have been
devoted to finding information from my father's side of the family -- Carman,
Roll, Schumacher, and Wahl. I have not spent much time yet on my mother's side
of the family and therefore have very little data on the Cross family.
I use the Personal Ancestral File (PAF) program from the Mormon church for
storing the family data. I am willing to share information via the GEDCOM file
format.
